Students are given assignment sheets to put in their notebooks. If there is ever any confusion regarding an assignment they can always call or email the teacher.
Expect assignments prior to the first class, between semesters, and on the last class for upper level courses. Assignments between sessions are no heavier than a regular weekly assignment and so there is plenty of time for vacation. There are no extra assignments over intra-semester breaks. Assignments given on the last class are usually to complete a long-term assignment that was given much earlier in the year, or to complete the last exam.
Assignments submitted without a name receive a zero.
Assignment Tardiness
Assignments not submitted when due will lose some credit and assignments submitted more than one week from their due date will receive no credit.
Tests submitted up to one week late will automatically lose 5 points. Tests submitted more than one week after the due date will receive zero points. However, all tests and quizzes must be submitted to ensure that the material is being covered is being understood and studied.
Priority Changes
There are times when children get sick or you as their parents have changes in the priorities for them. The priority change option is given to accommodate the realities of family life e.g. sickness, vacations, relatives visiting, etc. Please do not use the priority change option to accommodate poor planning on the student's part or lifestyle tardiness. When an assignment will be late with parental permission, please send the teacher a note with priority change information as illustrated below and credit will not be lost under these circumstances.
Priority Change 10/12/08
Dear Teacher,
Bobby's Latin assignment: translations for chapter 6, will be completed by 10/17/08.
Sincerely,
Emily Greenfield
The completion date you indicate will become the new due date and the assignment will not be considered late until after that date.
